Introduction to the Academy

The Academy has received numerous awards and recognitions for the work of providing an elevated curriculum in the arts to students of Orange County. Vocal scholarships for the graduating class of 2001 reached $250,000. Theatre productions consistently receive the highest critical acclaim. Local and national recognition for the Jazz Studies are also part of the accolades.

Behind this exceptional performance is a dedicated team of 11 full-time teachers (two honored as outstanding educators for 2001-2002), nine professional adjunct faculty members, and five Artist-in-Residency programs. Students are paired with mentors who provide career guidance and counseling for transition to higher education or the workplace. Extensive master classes by visiting artists and a local network of Colleges, Universities and arts organizations provide the students with opportunities for further development in their areas of interest.

The curriculum provides for school-day classes in areas of specialization usually arranged on a three-year sequention order.  Freshmen take full advantage of all the offerings and are admitted into the Academy during their sophomore year.  Admission and Membership is a competitive process with auditions and portfolio reviews.
